Think about it for a moment. Flamingos are pink, patient, famously good at standing still for long stretches, and they flock together in happy, chattering groups. That is practically a guild meeting. Flamingo Fun is our collection of flamingos who took up quilting and never looked back, all long legs, big personalities and hair that has clearly seen a full day at the machine.
They take the cutting table seriously
In One Got Away, two flamingos work side by side at the cutting table. One bends low over her fabric stack with total concentration while the other stands tall in a patchwork skirt, measuring tape and trailing thread slipping away across the floor. We have all been the second flamingo. And in Binding Is Going Great, a flamingo in reading glasses sips her coffee beside a teal sewing machine while binding strips tangle in loops all around her feet. The title is sincere. She is choosing optimism, and so are we.
They know how to wear a crest
Then there is the flock of named flamingos, each with a hairstyle as distinct as her quilting style. Featherina Stitché lives in a magenta cloud of frizz, with a vintage machine and a glass of red close by. Flossie Flaminglam wraps a patchwork scarf around her long neck and wears a crest in every color of the stash. Starla Flamingle holds a single pieced block beneath a string of bunting letters, a finished pile waiting at her feet. Bobbinetta Beakley perches on a branch hung with tiny spools like ornaments, Squawklyn Spoolberg stands beside a heap of tangled thread looking entirely unbothered, and Flamingle Fawcett rests on a leafy branch with a neat stack of pink fabric tucked under her wing.
They stand out, and they like it
Flamingos never try to blend in. They are the pink in a world of beige, which is also how most quilters feel walking into the fabric store and heading straight for the brights. Every design in this collection carries that confidence, whether the lettering is scrawled in rainbow script, tucked beside a branch or strung up like party flags.
For the quilter who is always the pink in the room
This collection belongs to the friend who owns a flamingo lawn ornament and is not sorry, the quilter whose stash leans heavily toward pink and coral, and anyone in The Stitch Circle who once wore feathers to a themed retreat and would do it again. You already know who your flamingo friend is. And if she stands on one foot while she sews, don't worry. The other one is simply resting on the pedal.
