MyDesigns Physical Item S / Team Purple Quilteontologist: I Make Bold Cuts ~ Relaxed Fit Tee

Now Enrolling: Introduction to Quilteontology

Some fields of study take years of schooling. Quilteontology takes one good weekend at the machine, and most of us earned our degree long ago. The Quilteontologist collection is where you claim the title officially: every design announces I'm a Quilteontologist in bold capitals washed in gradient color, teal melting into pink, violet into rose, or bright gold on deep navy, with a small line of fine print underneath explaining your particular area of expertise. Please find the course catalog below.

Core requirement: the physics of the first cut

Every Quilteontologist begins here, with the terrifying moment the rotary cutter meets a fat quarter you have loved for six years. The fine print covers it thoroughly. I measure twice and still clench. I commit to the cut while my body files a formal complaint. I make bold cuts, and everything braces for impact. I seam rip with nerves of steel. Any quilter who has held her breath over a ruler will recognize the research, and will appreciate that the findings are delivered with a straight face.

Electives in applied stash studies

Once the basics are behind you, the fun begins. Yes, I bought more fabric and I feel amazing about it is a popular seminar, often taken alongside This is what happens when I walk into a quilt shop. Advanced students may enroll in Yes, I have strong feelings about fabric sales, or the notoriously popular Guild nights are fabric talk and zero self control. And every class eventually ends with the same field report: Yes, I absolutely started another quilt. Professors consider this a passing grade.

Lab hours and refreshments

Serious study requires fuel. One design asks for coffee before anyone threads a needle, another admits the quilting was paused to pour more coffee and grab some chocolate, and a third explains that wine has been brought, because the quilts deserve it. One even confesses the design itself is held together by thread and likely some chocolate. For graduates, the thesis is simple and beautiful: Currently wrapped in fabric and living my best life.

Who qualifies for a degree

This collection belongs to the quilter who can explain the difference between a quarter-inch seam and a scant quarter-inch seam with real passion, the friend who researches fabric lines the way others research vacations, and anyone in The Stitch Circle who has ever taught a beginner to square up a block. You already know who deserves the title. Commencement is held at the cutting table. Caps are optional, but a thimble is strongly encouraged.
