Quilting has always known where it's from. Patterns carry hometowns right in their names ~ ask anyone who has pieced a Kansas Troubles or an Ohio Star while sitting nowhere near Kansas or Ohio. A quilt is a map of somewhere, even when the somewhere is just the chair you made it in.
Which raises a question this blog is fully unqualified to answer and is going to answer anyway: what does your state say about how you quilt? We consulted no experts. We surveyed no one. We are simply right. Find yourself below, and if your state is missing, that only means we're saving your roast for part two.
Texas:
everything is a king-size. You have never once made a table runner that stayed a table runner. It's a quilt now. It was always going to be a quilt.
Minnesota:
your seams are pressed open, your corners are kind, and you have apologized to a quilt for putting it in the wash. You bring bars to retreat. You are the reason retreat works.
Florida:
you quilt at full speed with the air conditioning roaring, and your stash contains at least one flamingo print you refuse to explain. We're not asking you to. We sell to your people gladly.
Colorado:
you own more project bags than projects, because every project might need to travel. Your ideal studio has a mountain view, and our Colorado tee agrees with you ~ look closely at its stitched peaks and you'll find the summits are thread spools. That is the correct way to draw a mountain and we will not be taking questions.

Louisiana:
your color choices frighten the timid and they are always, always right. You have never met a neutral you trusted.
Ohio:
you have pieced an Ohio Star, obviously, but you did it your way, which means three of them are hiding in a quilt that looks traditional until people lean in. You enjoy the lean-in.
Alaska:
you have more dark months than the rest of us and the finished-quilt count to prove it. When you say "little wall hanging," everyone braces.
Hawaii:
you got two shirts in our state line (a surf and an eruption) because your state refused to be summarized once. Honestly, fair.
And wherever you're from, one thing is universal: quilters travel wrong. Normal people come home from vacation with photographs. We come home with a plan. Nobody stands at the rim of the Grand Canyon without mentally auditioning batiks for those strata ~ which is why our Grand Canyon tee skips the photograph entirely and renders the whole canyon as a quilt, walls pieced and thread-painted in rust and rose and gold, right down to a river of blue stitching.
