Some things in this world are simply laws of nature. The sun comes up, the cat sits on the fabric you just pressed, and a quilter with a free afternoon heads straight for her machine. Quilters Gonna Quilt is the Chic Quilter collection built around that one unshakable truth, written out in a handful of different hands so everyone can pick the version that sounds most like her own voice.
The law, in bold capitals
A few of the designs state it the way you would announce it at the guild meeting. The Bobbin Letter O version spells the phrase in chunky rainbow letters, and if you look closely, the O in gonna is a little bobbin. Twin Thimbles stacks the words in pink, blue and orange, with a gold thimble standing guard on each side of the final word. Striped Letters and Heart fills its capitals with stripes, then trails off into a loopy thread and a small heart, as if the needle simply kept going. And the plainest of the bunch sets Quilters in pink script over bright capitals, with little bursts of color firing off around the word QUILT like it just finished a very good block.
The law, in pretty handwriting
Other versions say it softly, in flowing script. Scissors and Spool writes Quilters in an elegant swoop, tucks a spool of thread beside the word gonna and slides a pair of snips in alongside the letters, all in a rainbow wash. The same graceful lettering also comes in glowing rainbow on black, in warm peach and coral that looks like a sunset, and in rich purple against a cool aqua. It is the same sentence every time. It just gets dressed up for a different mood.
Who lives by this law
You know her. She quilts on snow days and heat waves, before work and after dinner, during the game and definitely during the family reunion if anyone lets her set up in the corner. Her calendar says dentist on Tuesday, but everyone understands that is a suggestion. Pick the lettering that feels SO her, the bold one for the friend who announces every finish, the script one for the friend who quietly finishes three quilts a season and never mentions it. Then stand back. Nature is about to take its course, and the cat is already waiting on the ironing board.
