Take Two Seams and Call Me in the Morning

Every quilter already knows the cure for a long week. It isn't found in a pharmacy, it doesn't need a refill slip, and it hums at about the speed of a good straight seam. Stitched with Soul is the collection that writes the prescription out in full: peaceful sewing machine scenes, a few honest sayings and some very understanding animals, all for the woman who comes to the machine to feel like herself again. Here is what the doctor ordered.

For a restless morning

Start with sunlight. Morning Muse sets a machine against bold stripes of sunrise color and rolling blue waves, and Rise Shine Quilt glows in violet as the sun lifts over the water behind a machine's silhouette. Quilting on a Cloud carries a machine along a ribbon of rainbow, Surfing the Fabric Sea rides a stitched wave under a spiral sun, and Lakeshore Breezes rests in a circle of calm blue water. Over the Meadow, Quilting Dreams Call pieces the hills themselves into patchwork. Apply daily, preferably with coffee.

For an overbooked calendar

Some days the treatment is simply a closed door. Sorry I'm Busy Quilting says it politely in flowing script, and Leave Me Alone says it a little more plainly, lettered right across a sunset-colored machine. One wine sipper offers her side of the story in bright letters: she was left unsupervised, and the fabric store was open. A cheerful mug admits that she may look like she is listening, but her head is still at the machine. And for the family member who worries about her fabric supply, one design suggests a better diagnosis altogether: the problem is not too much fabric, it is a too small sewing room.

For the quiet hours

My Therapy spells it out over a rainbow machine sprinkled with stars, and Stitch Your Stress Away sets a machine under a violet dusk. Whooos Stitching finds an owl working late beneath a full moon, and the cat in Meow sits beside a red floral machine with a bottle and a glass of wine, keeping her company. Peaks Pines and Patches frames a machine among mountains and pines, and Ripple Radiance puts a bright blue sun over the waves on a mug made for slow sipping.

For the quilter who mends her own heart

You know her. When the world gets loud, she disappears into her sewing room and comes out an hour later calmer, lighter and holding a finished block. Quilts Warm the Body and Comfort the Soul says it best, and Quilters Gonna Quilt says the rest. Give her the design that sounds like her heart talking. The prescription never runs out, the side effects include happiness and a growing stash, and the only follow-up appointment is tomorrow at the same machine.
